Wisconsin-Stout takes two from Yellow Jackets
Fort Myers, Fla. - The Defiance baseball team continued their spring break trip Tuesday with a doubleheader against Wisconsin-Stout. The Blue Devils would take both games, winning game one 5-0 and game two 6-4. The Blue Devils remain undefeated and improve to 5-0 while the Yellow Jackets fall to 1-6.
Game One:

The Blue Devils struck first in the second inning on a Jake Hesseling RBI single.

The Blue Devils would add single runs in the third and fifth inning, and two more in the sixth.

That was all Trevor Miller needed for the Blue Devils as he was in control on the mound from the get go.

The Yellow Jackets had runners on first and second with two outs in the fourth inning but Austin Horning was forced out at second base to end the inning.

Joseph O'Neil pitched 5.0 innings, allowed one earned run and took the loss.

Trevor Miller threw a complete game for UW-Stout as the Yellow Jackets only had two hits in the game.

Mitchell Roever and Trent Murdock had one hit apiece.

Jeffrey Varga and Ethan Jenkins each pitched one inning.

Riley Boushack led the Blue Devils with three hits in the game.
Game Two:

Roever, Gunner Gregg, and Murdock were retired in order in the top of the first.

The Blue Devils were aggressive early against Johnny Hammerstein and scored three runs in their first plate appearance.

Josh Vischer and Ethan Jenkins each had an RBI single in the 2nd to bring the deficit to one.

A pivotal moment came in the top of the third as Tyler Dehan was at the plate with runners on second and third with two outs. UW-Stout starter Cooper Beving was injured during the at bat and had to leave the game. Alex Foss came into the game with a 2-2 count and Dehan struck out swinging on the first pitch to end the threat.

Defiance trailed 5-2 going into the fifth inning and scored two runs to inch back closer. Trent Murdock scored on a wild pitch and Jacob Hild singled home Hunter Bostater.

Jacoby Endreas capped off the win for the Blue Devils with a homerun in the bottom of the fifth to give his team a two run cushion.

The Yellow Jackets could not put together a rally in the final two innings.

Blake Bowman did not allow a hit but walked one in his collegiate debut.
