On Friday, Dec. 27, Defiance will host both a Little Hitters Camp and Holiday Hitting Camp. The Little Hitters Camp, for ages 3-8, runs from 10 a.m. until noon while the Holiday Hitting Camp, for players in grades 3-12, is scheduled from 1-3 p.m.
There will be two more camps the following day. On Saturday, Dec. 28, a Baseball Skills Camp, for second through eighth graders, is from 10 a.m. to noon while a Pitching/Catching Camp, for those in grades 3-12, is set for 1-3 p.m.
The cost of each clinic is $30 if preregistered or $40 for walk-up registration.
After the New Year, the Yellow Jackets will have a Hitting School on three consecutive Sundays. The Hitting School, for players in grades 3-12, is on Jan. 12, Jan. 19 and Jan. 26 from 3-5 p.m.
On those same three Sundays, DC will work in conjunction with Defiance High School to put on a Pitching and Catching School for students in grades 6-12. The sessions for pitchers and catchers are slated from noon until 2 p.m., and players can sign up by using the registration form.
The cost for the Sunday clinics is $30 each or $80 if attending all three sessions of either the Hitting School or Pitching and Catching School.
All of the camps will be staffed by Woodley, along with his assistant coaches and players. To register or for more information on any of the clinics, please visit the official website of Defiance baseball camps.
Woodley is in his 13th season at the helm of the Defiance baseball program and also serves as the college's athletic director. He ranks second on the Yellow Jackets' all-time coaching wins list with more than 150 after leading DC to a 23-16-1 overall record last season, including 10-8 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (tied for third place). Defiance was one of five teams to qualify for the 2019 HCAC Championship tournament, where the No. 4-seeded Yellow Jackets won two games before being eliminated.
