DC Baseball Drops 2010 Season Opener to Grace
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Defiance College fell in an early 5-0 hole and could not recover, as the Jackets fell, 7-3, to Grace College in Nashville, Tennessee to open the 2010 campaign. DC will continue its trek south to compete in the Port Charlotte Invitational starting Monday in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Grace jumped out to the 4-0 lead before Defiance recorded an out in the first inning and tacked on a second-inning score to take a 5-0 cushion. The Jackets would battle back with two in the third and one in the eighth, but could not overcome the early deficit.
Matt Chidester sparked the offense with a 2-2 showing at the plate, while Brent Kremer doubled and Kirk Jesse and Braden Brugler each collected an RBI.
Jason Farr took the loss on the mound in his Yellow Jacket debut, giving up four earned runs in his three innings of work. Nicholas Bratt allowed a pair of earned runs in his 2.2 innings, while Todd O'Dell needed just 26 pitches to get through 2.1 scoreless frames.
Defiance (0-1) will open its play in Port Charlotte with a game against Wilmington on Monday, March 8 at 4:00 pm.
