Cross Country Opens Season at Bluffton
BLUFFTON, OHIO - The Defiance College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2019 seasons with the short trip to Bluffton University on Saturday morning to compete in the Beaver Dam Invitational.
BLUFFTON, OHIO - The Defiance College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2019 seasons with the short trip to Bluffton University on Saturday morning to compete in the Beaver Dam Invitational.
Across the men's and women's races the Yellow Jackets had three members competing. Tyler Hines (Cincinnati / Northwest) led the men's efforts while Carmen Caldwell (Brownstown, Mich. / Woodhaven) and Autumn Saddler (Sheffield Lake / Brookside)
Hines began his junior campaign with a 26:06.2 6k time. The seven minute mile pace landed the Cincinnati native in 66th.
On the women's side Caldwell was the highest finisher in Purple and Gold. The freshman recorded a 28:45.7 in her debut race. Sadler followed with a 32:10.8 to begin her Defiance career.
Both cross country sides will return to action on Saturday, September 14 as they travel to Tiffin, Ohio for the Tiffleberg Invitational. Race start is scheduled for 10:00 am
