Tomoletz named WHAC Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week
Defiance College junior middle hitter Jaelyn Tomoletz was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. This week's awards honored standouts from the first week of competition for the 2024-25 academic year while Tomoletz became the first honoree since DC joined the conference.
Helping lead Defiance to a 3-1 weekend in the Racer Yellow Jacket Classic, Tomoletz was superb on both sides of the ball by leading the team in kills and blocks. While setting a career-best in kills (15) in the season opener vs. Indiana Northwest, she also matched a career-high five solo blocks in the match and had six overall. The Perry, Ohio native set a new personal best for total blocks in a match with seven stops in Saturday's finale vs. Goshen. Tomoletz completed the first weekend of play as the conference leader in total blocks (16) and is ranked fifth in blocks per set (1.07). The award is the second-career conference player of the week award for Tomoletz following the nod as HCAC Defender of the Week during the 2023 campaign.
Yellow Jacket volleyball continues their season on the road this weekend at the Onset Invitational in Fort Wayne.
