Porter Named HCAC Defensive Player of the Week
CARMEL, Ind. - Just two weeks into the season, Defiance College volleyball has earned their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor. Junior Morgan Porter (Defiance / Defiance) earned the recognition after her performance in last weeks five matches.
CARMEL, Ind. - Just two weeks into the season, Defiance College volleyball has earned their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor. Junior Morgan Porter (Defiance / Defiance) earned the recognition after her performance in last weeks five matches.
Porter played in all five matches and 19 sets during last weeks action, including four matches at the Penn St.-Behrend Tournament which saw the Yellow Jackets leave Erie with a 3-1 record. Porter recorded 130 digs including an impressive 105 at the Behrend Tournament. Her 6.84 digs per set number last week lands her season average at 6.28, firmly in first place on the HCAC charts. With 201 total digs thus far this year, Porter finds herself with a 50 dig lead on the rest of the conference field.
Porter's efforts have helped Defiance Volleyball to a 6-3 start to the season, marking the best start since 2014 for the program.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action with their 2019 home opener on Tuesday, September 10, as they host Adrian College. Action in the Karl H. Weaner Center is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm.
