Cross leads women's track and field at All-Ohio Championship
Defiance freshman Traci Cross recorded two second-place finishes at the Division III All-Ohio Championships on Saturday.
Defiance freshman Traci Cross recorded two second-place finishes at the Division III All-Ohio Championships on Saturday. Her performance helped the Yellow Jackets to a 10th place finish.
The Basics
- The event was hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the George Gauthier Track in Delaware, Ohio.
- Case Western finished in first place with 132 points.
- The Yellow Jackets placed 10th with 16 points.
Notable Performances
- Cross recorded the third-fastest time in program history in the 100-meters with a blazing time of 12.49 seconds.
- Her time in the 200-meters (25.84 seconds) is the sixth-best in program history and makes her the third-fastest 200-meter runner in team history.
- Senior Lisa Markau finished ninth in both the 100 and 200-meters with times of 13.06 seconds and 27.11 seconds. Both of her times put her in the top 10 for individual runners in each event.
- Sophomore Tawon Cannon took first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.02 seconds which is the fourth-best in team history.
- Junior Ja'Qway Janvier placed third in the 200-meters with a time of 22.36 seconds and is a top-10 time in program history. Cannon placed eighth in the 200-meters with a time of 22.72 seconds.
- Janvier also placed fourth in the 100-meters with a time of 10.95 seconds which is a new personal best.
- Sophomore John Reese finished sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal best time of 10:11.50. Reese also finished 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a new personal best time of 1:01.14.
