Women's track & field finishes 10th at HCAC Outdoor Championship

This weekend the Defiance College women’s track and field team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The Yellow Jackets earned points from sixth-place finishes in 100-meters from Lisa Markau, the 110-meter hurdles from Shi’Nique Lawrence, and the 4x100 relay team

On Tuesday afternoon, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced that Defiance College junior Lisa Markau (Cape Coral, Fla./Cape Coral) was named the HCAC women’s track Athlete of the Week.

Track & Field sprints past competition at Concordia Legacy Meet

The Defiance College men's and women's track and field teams traveled north to Ann Arbor, Mich. on Saturday to compete in the Legacy Meet hosted by Concordia University Ann Arbor. The Yellow Jackets won two events on the day with Lisa Markau placing first in the women's 100-meters and the men's 4x100 relay team winning their race. The men's squad finished fifth out of nine teams while the women placed eighth out of eight.

The Defiance College track and field teams competed in the Reggie Thomas Classic hosted by Tiffin University on Saturday, with multiple athletes setting new personal bests.

Lawrence leads track and field at Blue & Gold Twilight

The Defiance College women's track & field team traveled to Owensboro, Ky. on Friday to compete in the Blue & Gold Twilight meet and placed fifth out of six teams largely thanks to the efforts of Shi'nique Lawrence.

Track & Field competes at Kentucky Wesleyan Twilight Invitational

The Defiance College track & field teams traveled to Owensboro, Ky. on Friday to compete in the Kentucky Wesleyan Twilight Invitational. Lisa Markau and Shi'Nique Lawrence placed sixth and seventh in the women's 100 meters. Markau also placed eighth in the 200 with a time of 28.60 seconds while Lawrence finished fourth in the high jump with a new personal best of 1.40m.

Men picked fifth, women ninth in HCAC outdoor track poll

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the results of its preseason coaches poll for the 2021 outdoor track and field season on Wednesday morning. The Defiance College men's team was chosen to finished fifth in the conference while the women were picked to finish ninth.

Outdoor track season begins at Cedarville Yellow Jacket Open

The Defiance College men's and women's track and field team opened the 2021 outdoor season on Saturday at the Cedarville University Yellow Jacket Open in Cedarville, Ohio. The event hosted 33 teams from all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA.

Defiance College 2021 outdoor track season preview

On Saturday the Defiance College men’s and women’s track and field program will begin the 2020-21 outdoor season at the Cedarville Yellowjacket Collegiate Open. This season will be the first outdoor season for Defiance head coach Nathan Christianson, who was hired during the 2019-20 indoor season.

Markau Places Fourth at HCAC Championship

Defiance College junior Lisa Markau logged a fourth-place finish in the 60-meters on Saturday afternoon at the Heartland Conference Women's Indoor Track Championship. As a team Defiance finished ninth with a total of 12 points. Hosts Rose-Hulman won the league title with a total of 189 points followed by Manchester with 137 and Hanover with 100.

Janvier leads Yellow Jackets at John Hartpence Invitational

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Three first-place finishes from Ja'qway Janvier set the tone for an impressive outing by the Defiance College track and field teams at the John Hartpence Invitational on Friday evening. Janvier ran the third-fastest time in school history in the 60-meters, clocking in at 6.96 seconds in the finals to win the event. He followed up this record performance by win the 200-meters with a time of 23.48 seconds and also placing first in the long jump with a distance of 5.93m.

No spectators allowed at athletic events until at least mid-February

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Due to rising health concerns related to the spread of the coronavirus, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Council of Presidents and Defiance College have decided to not allow spectators at any athletic events until at least Feb. 15, 2021. The HCAC, which Defiance has been a member of since 2000, will reevaluate this policy next month.
