CARMEL, Ind. – Defiance College's Madi Bowman (Eaton/Eaton) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athlete Conference Athlete of the Week for women's indoor track and field. Bowman tabs her first honor of the season as she takes home the Field Athlete of the Week award as voted on by the conference sports information directors.
A record-setting weekend for Bowman launches her to the top of the voting for the week. The senior achieved a weight throw mark of 16.34 meters on Saturday at the Tiffin Dragon Open, enough for a new personal record.
Bowman's mark once again sets a new Defiance College record as well, a feat the senior achieved in February of 2019.
The Eaton native's weight throw leads the 2020 charts in the HCAC by over two meters while also making impacts on the national stage. Bowman's performance at Tiffin gives her the 11th best mark in NCAA Divison III this season.
Defiance track and field will return to action Friday as they travel to Ohio Northern for the Larry Cole Friday Night Invite. Action in Ada is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
