Women's Track & Field Host the Defiance Invitational

DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College women's track and field team hosted the Defiance Invitational on Saturday afternoon, welcoming 10 teams to the George M. Smart Center.
The Yellow Jackets were led on the day by Madi Bowman in the weight throw, finishing second overall with a toss of 15.11 meters sitting thrid all-time in DC history.
On the track, the 4x200-meter relay team of Malia Ferry, Mackenzie Moerhman, Blake Newman, and Lisa-Maria Marku claimed third with a time of 2:00.68.
Megan Ortiz led DC in the one mile run finishing seventh overall with a time of 7:27.69, while Moerhman took seventh and Kaitlyn Hughes eighth in the 60-meter dash.
In the 400-meter dash, Ferry captured an eighth place finish with a time of 1:09.51.
In the field, Meagan Trimpey took home a third place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.15 meters just missing the school record and claimed a eighth place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.32 meters.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, February 1 as they travel to Oberlin.
