Defiance Track Competes at All-Ohio Championships

DC placed in the 16th spot overall, ahead of Marietta, Bluffton, and Mount St. Joseph. Oberlin College (124 points) won the meet by 10 points over Otterbein (114), while Ohio Wesleyan rounded out the top three.
It was another big day for Hannah Williams (Swanton). The senior improved on her career-best mark in the hammer throw with a toss of 47.30 meters (155 feet, 2 inches). She placed sixth in the meet and inched her way to within three inches of the school record. Williams also placed seventh in the discus with a toss of 39.63 meters (130 feet), 0.02 meters away from moving into the second spot on DC's all-time list.
Senior Brooke Waidelich (Pettisville) also represented the throwers, as she placed 10th in the discus (37.18 meters) and 12th in the hammer (41.53 meters), while senior Cassidy Santen (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) placed 12th in the shot put with a throw of 10.67 meters (35 feet, 0.25 inches).
Freshman Meagan Trimpey (Bowling Green) had a stellar performance in the pole vault competition on Saturday, clearing a personal-best mark of 2.97 meters (9 feet, 9 inches), a mark that vaulted her into fourth all-time at Defiance College.
Leading the way on the track was freshman Olivia Fett (Defiance), whose 2:30.00 time in the 800 meter run was a personal best and placed her in the seventh spot on DC's all-time list.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action for one final regular season tuneup as they head to Ada for the Polar Bear Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University. Hammer and javelin kick off the action on Friday, Apr. 20 at 3 p.m., before the rest of the meet begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Apr. 21
