ANDERSON, IND. -- The Defiance College women's track and field team sent two athletes to the Fred Wilt Invitational at Anderson University on Saturday in their first of two last chance meets on the schedule.
Senior Brooke Waidelich (Pettisville) reigned victorious once again this week in the weight throw, as her toss of 14.98 meters (49 feet, 2 inches) was the best in the field for the second straight meet at Anderson.
Freshman Meagan Trimpey (Bowling Green) earned a personal best in the pole vault, clearing 3.13 meters (10 feet, 3 inches), which was good enough for third place in the meet. That mark also moves her less than three inches away from breaking the school record. Trimpey also ran the 60-meter hurdles, placing in the fifth spot with a time of 11.76 seconds.
Defiance will return to action next weekend with a two-day meet on Friday, Mar. 2 and Saturday, Mar. 3 at Ohio Northern University. The final last chance meet of the year will see Trimpey compete in her first collegiate heptathlon, while Waidelich is slated to compete in the weight throw on Saturday.
