Women's Tennis Wraps Up HCAC Opening Weekend with Transy Battle
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College women's tennis team wrapped up opening weekend of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action with a visit from Transylvania on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets were bested by the Pioneers 9-0.

An always talented Transy team found the sweep despite a fight from the Purple and Gold. In doubles play Rylea Amspaugh (Nashport / Lakewood) and Robyn Otey (Sylvania / Southview) took two games from their Pioneer opponents on the number three court. Likewise, Destiny Oshodin (Toledo / Jesup W. Scott) and Sydney Huston (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence) won a pair of games in their battle as well.
Singles action saw A.J. Breneman (Bryan / Bryan) win four games in number one play. Otey equaled the ... total, winning four games in her second set of singles play. Huston and Amspaugh also battled to earn game victories in the match.
The Yellow Jackets now stand at 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in HCAC play. DC will continue both HCAC play and thier home stand as they take on Manchester on Wednesday, September 18. First serve is slated for 4:30 pm.
