Yellow Jackets Sweep Miami-Middletown

A pair of 8-2 victories highlighted doubles action for the Purple and Gold. Hannah Hesterman (Archbold / Archbold) and Cayla Walker (Archbold / Archbold) paired up for number one singles, while A.J. Breneman (Bryan / Bryan) and Chelsey Braunwart (Trenton / Edgewood) combined to win in number two doubles. By default, number three doubles of Sydney Huston (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence) and Alexa St. Julian (Oregon / Clay) earned a victory to close out doubles action.
Singles saw similar results for Defiance. Hesterman started off with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Breneman stepped into number two singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win. Walker and Braunwart each earned victory 6-2, 6-0 in number three and number five singles respectively. In number four singles Miami-Middletown was able to push Huston to a third set, but the Indianapolis, Ind. native was able to pull out the 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 win to close out doubles action.
The win bumps the Yellow Jacket record up to 3-8 on the 2018 campaign. The side is next in action Saturday, Oct. 6 as they travel to Kentucky for a dual with HCAC opponent Transylvania (Ky.) and Thomas Moore.
