Women's Tennis Lands Eighth on HCAC Preason Poll
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College women's tennis team, under second year head Coach Gonzalo Vivas, was picked to finish eighth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll.
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College women's tennis team, under second year head Coach Gonzalo Vivas, was picked to finish eighth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll.
Defending HCAC Champion Hanover, landed at the top of the list securing 89 points and eight of the nine possible first place votes. Rose-Hulman finished second in polling with 74 points and one first place vote, while Franklin followed closely in third with 73 points. Transylvania rounded out the top four with 56 points.
Defiance returns an experinced squad in 2018 as all five team members played under Coach Vivas during the 2017 season. These returners include senior Hannah Hesterman who earned All-HCAC honors as a junior, and sophomore A.J. Breneman, an HCAC Honorable Mention athlete during her freshman campaign.
The Yellow Jackets begin their season on Wednesday, Aug. 29 as they travel to take on Olivet College at 5:15 pm.
