Hesterman and Kuhlman Victorious Against Pioneers
DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Defiance College women’s tennis team battled Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Transylvania (Ky.) University and fell to the Pioneers by an overall score of 7-2.
DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Defiance College women's tennis team battled Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Transylvania (Ky.) University and fell to the Pioneers by an overall score of 7-2.
Defiance (1-6, 0-3 HCAC) showed strong play against the Pioneers (2-1, 2-1 HCAC) in the second doubles spot with the team of senior Haley Kuhlman (Oregon/Clay) and freshman Danielle Vance (Defiance). They battled their opponent all the way to an 8-6 final decision.
Singles proved to be victorious in the second and third singles spots. Freshman Hannah Hesterman (Archbold) defeated her Transy opponent by a score of 6-3, 6-4. Hesterman moves to 3-4 overall this season, holding strong at the second singles spot. Kuhlman took her opponent to a third set decision and won by a score of 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (7-5). Kuhlman is now 2-5 at the third singles slot for the season.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 23 when they travel to Richmond, Ind. to face Earlham (Ind.) College in HCAC play. The match is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
