Yellow Jackets Wrap Up Season with a Trip to Franklin (Ind.)
Franklin, IND. – The Defiance College women’s tennis team ended their season with a trip to Franklin, Ind. to face Franklin (Ind.) College and fell to the Grizzlies by a match score of 9-0.
Franklin, IND. – The Defiance College women's tennis team ended their season with a trip to Franklin, Ind. to face Franklin (Ind.) College and fell to the Grizzlies by a match score of 9-0.
Despite the overall loss, Defiance (1-11, 0-8 HCAC) won a total of nine games against Franklin (6-3, 6-2 HCAC) for the morning.
The first and second doubles teams led the way for the Yellow Jackets. Juniors Savannah Marquez (Porterville, Calif. / Porterville) and Nicole Tank (Lincoln Park, Mich. / Roosevelt) teamed up at the first doubles spot and won two games. Junior Haley Kuhlman (Oregon/Clay) and senior Bailey Marquez (Porterville, Calif. / Porterville) also won two games at the second doubles spot.
Senior Bailey Marquez ended her college career with her closest match of the season being against Earlham (Ind.) College when she teamed up with Kuhlman at the second doubles spot and fell to the Quakers by a match score of 8-6.
"Bailey played good today in her last college doubles match," said Head Coach Tyler Ault. "She has been a pleasure to work with abd a valuable asset to our team."
