Defiance Defeats Red Wolves, 7-2

DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Defiance College women's tennis team hosted Indiana University East and netted their first win of the season by a match score of 7-2.
Defiance (1-10, 0-7 HCAC) juniors Nicole Tank (Lincoln Park, Mich. / Roosevelt) and Savannah Marquez (Porterville, Calif. / Porterville) both earned victories at the second and third singles spot with match scores of 6-3, 5-7 (10-5) and 6-0, 6-3 respectively against the Red Wolves (1-5).
Defiance won the other matches of the afternoon by forfeits from IUE, allowing the Yellow Jackets to win by a match score of 7-2.
"The team had a lot of 'firsts' this afternoon against Indiana University East," said Head Coach Tyler Ault. "Nicole won her first career singles match and Savannah played well in her match, overall it was a good day for the women's tennis team."
The Yellow Jackets compete in their last match of the season when they travel to Franklin, Ind. for a match against Franklin (Ind.) College Saturday Oct. 11. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
