Defiance Falls to the Comets in Non-Conference Action

DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Defiance College women's tennis team hosted Olivet (Mich.) College in a non-conference matchup and fell to the Comets by a final score of 9-0.
Despite the overall loss, Defiance (0-5, 0-3 HCAC) started off the afternoon strong with all three doubles teams winning at least one game against Olivet (1-3). Nicole Tank (Lincoln Park, Mich. / Roosevelt) teamed up with Savannah Marquez (Porterville, Calif. / Porterville) at the first double spot ending their set with a score of 8-2. Haley Kuhlman (Oregon, Ohio / Clay) and Bailey Marquez (Porterville, Calif. / Porterville) teamed up at the second doubles spot, dropping the set by a score of 8-4. Courtney Alexander (Bristolville/Bristol) and Colby Heeter (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg) finished at the third doubles spot with a score of 8-1.
In singles play, S. Marquez, Kuhlman and Heeter won a combined total of six games, making the total of 13 games going in the Yellow Jackets favor for the afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets return to play Wednesday, Sept. 24 when they host Earlham (Ind.) College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
