Women's Soccer Falls at Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind.- The Defiance College women's soccer team traveled to North Manchester, Indiana, to compete in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game. Despite a tight defensive line, the Yellow Jackets fell to the Spartans 3-0.
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind.- The Defiance College women's soccer team traveled to North Manchester, Indiana, to compete in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game. Despite a tight defensive line, the Yellow Jackets fell to the Spartans 3-0.
The home side got off to an early lead scoring in the fifteenth minute, giving the Spartans a 1-0 advantage. The Yellow Jacket defense would hold Manchester scoreless for the rest of the first half.
Senior Madi Bowman (Eaton, Ohio/ Eaton) was once again in goal for the Purple and Gold playing all 90 minutes and tallying a handful of saves. Emily Miller (Maumee, Ohio. / Anthony Wayne) and the rest of the Yellow Jacket defense caught the Spartans offside ten times throughout the course of the game.
Offensively, Defiance was lead by senior Blake Newman (Jackson, Mich. / Lumen Christi) and freshman Ally Enneking (Cincinnati, Ohio / Roger Bacon), each taking two shots, one of which on frame. The Purple and Gold would take four shots in the first 45 minutes forcing the Spartan goalie to make three saves.
Early in the second half, the Yellow Jackets created opportunities to score off of two corner kicks just missing wide of the goal. Manchester would tack on two goals in the second half to secure the 3-0 over the Yellow Jackets at home.
The loss brings the Yellow Jacket record to 4-12-1 on the season and 0-6 in the HCAC. Defiance is next in action Saturday, October 26th, as they travel Mt. St. Joseph to take on the Lions for a 1:00 pm kickoff.
