ANDERSON, Ind. - The Defiance College women's soccer team traveled Anderson University on Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets dropped a close 2-0 contest to the Ravens.
The two sides matched up fairly evenly until the home side was able to find the back of the Yellow Jacket goal nearing the end of the first half. Senior Madi Bowmen (Eaton, Ohio/ Eaton) tended the net for the Purple and Gold for all 90 minutes tallying fourteen saves.
Once again, the Defiance backfield held a tight line forcing the Ravens offsides seven times in the first half alone. In the second half, the Yellow Jackets would catch the Ravens offsides another seven times for a total of fourteen offsides call against the home side on the day.
Offensively, senior Sarah Madaras (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Parchment) led the way tallying a shot on goal for the Purple and Gold. Senior Rachel Lowell (Lakewood, Ohio. / Lakewood) and junior Chelsey Strawser (Lewisburg, Ohio. / Tri-County North) also each added a shot of their own as well.
The home side would tack on an insurance goal late in the second half to secure a close 2-0 HCAC win.
The loss brings the women's record to 4-10-1 on the season, and 0-3 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, October 19th, as they play host to Transylvania University. The start time is slated for 1:00 pm.
