BW Wins Battle of Yellow Jackets

DEFIANCE, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets in non-conference action at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field.

BW (6-3-1) outshot Defiance (0-6) by a 9-1 margin in the opening half, including putting two into the back of the net. The first goal came in the 14th minute, while the second came in the 36th minute to lead 2-0 at the break.

DC was finally able to crack into the shots category in the final minute of the stanza, as freshman Whitney Webb (Troy) put one on frame but was stopped by the BW goalkeeper.

DC saw several attempts early in the second half, including looks by Webb and freshman Sarah Madaras (Kalamazoo, Mich./Parchment) in the first seven minutes, but both were stopped. BW went on to score two goals in a four minute span to lead 4-0 with 30 minutes to play.

Baldwin Wallace scored the final goal in the 78th minute to finish their 5-0 victory.

Baldwin Wallace outshot the host Yellow Jackets, 25-7, for the contest. Webb led the way for Defiance with her three attempts.

Freshman Defiance goalie Madi Bowman (Eaton) took the loss in net playing the entire game, but did make five saves.

Defiance women's soccer begins Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play next Saturday, Oct. 1 as they head to Franklin, Ind. to take on the Franklin College Grizzlies. The game is set to begin at 5 pm.
