FRANKLIN, Ind. – After 110 minutes of play, both teams could not muster up a score, as the DC women's soccer team tied the Franklin Grizzlies 0-0 on Saturday, October 13 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
Play kicked off evenly, as each team had early opportunities at the net. Midway through the first period, it was four shots to three in favor of the Grizzlies. Then as time was winding down in the first period, DC kept the goalie on her toes with a pair of shots that were saved with less than three minutes to go in the half.
As play resumed in the second period with the game still tied at zero, the Jackets had the first attempts at the net with two shots right out of the gate. But the Franklin defense held and the teams would battle back and forth the entire period to end regulation still knotted at zero.
After 90 minutes of play, you couldn't have seen a more even game with shots being 12-to-11 in favor of DC, corner kicks even at five a piece, and saves being 5-to-4 Franklin.
The trend would not break, as both squads played out the two overtimes with even attempts for a goal, but neither would have success. Play would finish and the teams departed the field with a 0-0 tie.
With the tie, Defiance record holds steady at 7-4-4 (2-1-2 HCAC), with Franklin going to 4-5-3 (0-2-3 HCAC).
