Jackets Win DC Classic with Victory Over Rochester

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance women's soccer team won the fourth annual DC Classic Sunday, September 06, 2009, with a victory over Rochester College.

DC played aggressively, out-shouting Rochester 26-4 in the match, including a 17-2 differential in the second half. Lauren Ranalli found the net first for the Jackets as she scored off a Cherilyn Borkholder assist at the 76:58 mark to give DC a 1-0 lead. Melissa Alston put the game out of reach six minutes later when she connected off a Hannah Firchau assist to extend DC's lead to 2-0 with seven minutes remaining.

Goalkeeper Kelly Coble recorded four saves in the game, securing the Yellow Jackets' second consecutive shutout.

The Yellow Jackets will look to extend their winning streak on September 12, when they host Marian University at 1:00 p.m. on the Defiance High School varsity soccer field.
