Jackets Drop 2-0 Decision to Oberlin in Season Opener

The Yeowomen broke open a scoreless tie in the second period with two goals in a ten minute span. Madeline Schultz found the net in the 58th minute to give Oberlin a one goal lead, before Veronica Fusco added an insurance goal in the 68th minute to round out the scoring.
DC put heavy pressure on Oberlin keeper Sarah Grabinski in the beginning of the second period, but was unable to find the net. Lauren Ranalli led the Jackets with three shots, while Kristin Goldstein, Alexandra Johnson and Kaitlin Monberg all recorded shots on goal in the contest. Freshman keeper Colleen Cross had a solid performance in goal for Defiance, recording nine saves on the afternoon.
Defiance, 0-1, will return to the pitch on Sunday, August 31, when it wraps up the DC Classic with its match against Mount Union College at 3:00 p.m.
