Five Jackets place at BW Invite

The Defiance College Wrestling team continued season action, competing in the Baldwin Wallace Invitational on Saturday, November 19, in Berea, OH.  

9 teams participated in the invite, including Baldwin Wallace, Delaware Valley, Trine,  Lourdes, Case Western Reserve, Theil, Manchester, and Mount St. Joseph.

The Yellow finished 7th overall on the day with a team score of 30.0. Five grapplers placed for Defiance: Keringten Martin (4th, 165), Seth Majewski (6th, 133), Alejandro Castro (7th, 157), Joey Perez (7th, 197) and Jack Minner (8th, 184).

133: 

  • Evan Gray (0-2, 9)

    • Received two byes before wrestling Thomas Miler (Trine). 

    • Match ended by Technical Fall 1.5 2:37

  • Seth Majewski (2-3, 12)

    • Wrestled Allen Jackson (Baldwin Wallace), winning by Technical Fall 1.5 3:00 (16-0)

    • Advanced to wrestle Ryan Kelly (Delaware Valley),  losing by Fall 5:43.

    • Placed sixth.

    • Competed against Greg Corce (Delaware Valley), losing by Sudden Victory.

    • Later, competed against Lakin Webb (Trine), defeating Webb by Decision 7-1.

    • Faced Mitchell Arch (Case Western Reserve), losing by Fall 4:32.

    • Placed seventh.

  • Keringten Martin (3-3, 12)

    • Received a bye in the first round. 

    • Competed against Maximus Gordon (Delaware Valley), winning by Decision 6-2.

    • Martin would go on to compete against Hunter Kupniewski (Baldwin Wallace), winning by Major Decision 15-5.

    • Martin lost his last match against Derrick Coleman (Lourdes).
