Beltran leads Yellow Jackets at Purple Raider Open
ALLIANCE, Ohio- On Saturday, the Defiance College wrestling team competed individually at the Purple Raider Open, held at the Peterson Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Mount Union.
ALLIANCE, Ohio- On Saturday, the Defiance College wrestling team competed individually at the Purple Raider Open, held at the Peterson Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Mount Union.
Defiance was led by Rosendo Beltran (Toledo, Ohio / Central Catholic), who finished in 6th place in the 125 weight class. Beltron had two wins on the day; the first was a 17-2 technical fall against Leondre Cooley from Mount Union in the first consolation round. After a bye, the junior won by way of a pin in 4:19 over Daniel Tolin (Indiana Unattached).
Bradley Collins (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington) picked up a 10-8 decision win over Mitch Mantisi (Ohio State WC) in the 157 bout.
Hunter Mcnutt (Oregon, Ohio / Clay) picked up another win for DC on the weekend, defeating Paul Molke from the University of Akron by fall in the 184 weight class.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on January 31 as they compete in the Wheaton Invitational. The competition will be on Friday and Saturday and will begin at 9:00 am both days.
