Defiance College Wrestling hosts the HCAC Duals
DEFIANCE, Ohio. - The Defiance College wrestling team hosted the HCAC Duals in the Karl H. Weaner Center on Saturday afternoon. Defiance split on the day, falling to Mount St. Joseph in the first dual (34-9) and defeating Manchester in the second dual (32-18).

The Yellow Jackets opened the day against Mount St. Joseph University, dropping the dual 34-9. Defiance was led by Derek Spears (Mount Orab, Ohio / Western Brown) in the 165-pound weight class, winning by fall in 4:00 over Eric Fomekong from MSJ. In the heavyweight match, freshman Wes Bok (Defiance, Ohio/ Fairview) recorded a 6-2 decision win over Zak Hughey.
The Purple and Gold then competed against Manchester University for the final dual of the day, claiming a 32-18 victory.
Rosendo Beltran (Toledo/Central Catholic) started the match for Defiance with an 11-2 major decision win in the 125-pound weight class. Seth Majewski (Brooklyn, Ohio / Brooklyn) followed up in the 133 weight class with a quick 0:48 second pin over James Corgan from Manchester.
Spears claimed his second win of the day with a 13-5 major decision win over Ellisston Ross in the 165 weight class. Hunter McNutt (Oregon, Ohio / Clay) wrestled Devontay Moore in the 184 weight class and won by way of a pin in under 3 minutes.
Mason Morris (Grove City, Ohio / Central Crossing) took down Victor Lee in the 197 weight class with an exciting 5-4 decision victory. Rounding out the day for Defiance was Rigo Villa (Ft. Myers, Fla. / Lehigh), who won by an 11-7 decision to secure the 32-18 Yellow Jacket victory.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Friday, January 17th, as they host Wilmington College for a dual match in the Karl H. Weaner Center. The competition is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
