Smith Claims 141 Class as Wrestling Finishes 4th at Adrian
ADRIAN, Mich. - The Defiance College wrestling program jumped into the 2019-20 season with a trip to the Adrian College Invitational on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets brought home a fourth place finish in the season-opening tournament.

Alex Smith (Castalia/Sandusky St. Mary's) led the way for the Purple and Gold. The junior rounded out the day with a 4-0 record and a 10-4 decision win over his Mount Union opponent in the first place match.
At 133, Raymier Hickerson (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) dropped just one bout over the course of the day. The sophomore's 5-1 record saw him win the match for third with a 12-5 decision.
Hunter Mcnutt (Oregon/Clay) claimed a fourth place finish in the 184 lbs. weight class. The sophomore opened his day with a win by fall just over five minutes into the action before wrapping up the day at 2-2.
Also finding their way into a place position were Rosendo Beltran (Toledo/Central Catholic) with a sixth place result at 133, Keringten Martin (Houston/Covington) landed eighth at 165, and Mason Morris (Grove City/Central Crossing) also finished eighth at 197.
Defiance will return to action next weekend as they travel to Alliance, Ohio for the Mount Union Invitational. Action is slated to begin at 10:00 am.
