Mercer Leads Women's Golf at Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Defiance College women's golf team took on the Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational field on Saturday and Sunday in the final trip before the HCAC Championships next weekend. 

Shelby Mercer (Canton, Ohio / Glenoak) led the Yellow Jackets over the two day tournament. The sophomore scored a round-best of 101 before concluding the weekend with a 208 total score. Mercer's score landed her 43rd in the field. 

Maricella Najar (Adrian, Mich. / Madison) shot a 111 in round before cutting one stroke in round two for a score of 110. The freshman landed 52nd in the field at Wooster Country Club. 

The Defiance duo will return to action Friday, October 11 as they take on the first day of the 2019 HCAC Championships. The three day event will take place at Bluffton Golf Club.
