Yellow Jackets Heat Up at Spiess Memorial Tournament
DEFIANCE, OHIO - Women's Golf played host to the Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament on Tuesday afternoon welcoming 10 teams to Eagle Rock Golf Club. The Yellow Jackets tallied an 8th place finish in the 10 team field with 417 strokes.

Tiffin won the Tournament with a team-best score of 312 strokes, while Albion took second with a score of 342 strokes.
The Purple and Gold were led on the day by freshman Shelby Mercer (Canton/Glenoak) who finished tied for 25th with 97 (53-44) strokes.
Freshman Carrigan Browning (Troy) carded a 36th place finish for DC as she shot a 105 (49-56), followed by sophomore Emily Sabsook (Charlevoix, Mich.) in 40th place with 107 (56-51) strokes and freshman Heather Jogerst (McClure/Otsego) in 41st place with 108 (51-57) strokes.
Freshman Morgan Beaverson (Sylvania) rounded out the scoring for Defiance as she finished 46th overall with 128 (64-64) strokes.
The Yellow Jacket alternate, freshman Kate Osborne (Conneaut) posted a strong day as she claimed a 28th place finish with 98 (51-47) strokes.
The Purple and Gold return to action Saturday, Sept. 8 as they host the Defiance Invitational.
