Bio

Allan King Jr. enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Defiance College women’s basketball program in 2021-22.

In his first season, King guided the Yellow Jackets to an opening-round Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament victory, 84-47 at Mount St. Joseph University, and landed three All-HCAC selections.

Prior to DC, King spent two stints and seven seasons (2005-07 and 2013-18) at Ohio's Wilmington College, where he served as an assistant women's basketball coach working primarily with the defense. He helped establish the Quakers' defense as one of the best in the Ohio Athletic Conference, ranking among the elite in rebound margin, field goal percentage defense and three-point pressure.

While at Wilmington, King also assisted in recruitment and strength and conditioning training, as well as game day preparation, operations and skill camps. He helped guide the 2006-07 WC team to the second round of the NCAA Division III national tournament and a top 20 national ranking after claiming both the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships.

Between stops at Wilmington, King served as the head women's basketball coach for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford from 2007-09. He later spent a year as an assistant coach with Capital University before taking over as the head girls basketball coach at Russia (Ohio) High School, leading the Raiders to three straight winning seasons and a district title, their first in 12 years. Also during his tenure with Russia, King produced the school's first All-Ohio player in more than a decade and to the regional semifinals. He was also a part-time coach in 2010 for the Capital Crusaders.

King graduated from Bluffton University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in sport management before attending Heidelberg University, where he garnered a Master of Arts in education. He is married to his wife, Maria, and the couple currently resides in Ayersville with their five children: Lily, Trey, Si, Grace and Hadley.
