Bio

Rod Hersha has been named Interim Head Coach for Women’s Basketball. 

Hersha comes to Defiance College after leading high school girls basketball programs in the surrounding Defiance area, including 24 years at Napoleon, 11 at Defiance, and two at Maumee. In boys high school basketball, Rod was the assistant varsity coach at Shadow Ridge High School in Las Vegas.  

Athletic Director Derek Woodley said “Coach Hersha brings a wealth of knowledge and has a great basketball resume'.  We are thankful and excited that he will be leading our Women's Basketball program this year" 

Throughout his coaching career, Rod has collected 18 sectional championships, one district championship, and three league championships as well as receiving nine coach of the year awards. 

Rod has teaching experience also - teaching in Northwest Ohio and in Las Vegas. 

 Rod received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Defiance College and Masters Degree in Education Administration from Bowling Green State University.
