15 Student-Athletes Named to Winter Academic All-HCAC List
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference released its Academic All-Conference Honorees list today for the winter semester and Defiance College was well represented with 15 student-athletes making the list.

Tietje Heads Four Yellow Jackets With All-HCAC Honors
DEFIANCE, Ohio – After a fantastic freshman season for Kelsey Tietje, the DC center was selected First-Team All-HCAC and made the HCAC All-Freshman team. Other members of the Purple and Gold who earned Heartland Conference accolades included Erica King, Hannah Harshman and Erica Smay.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – It was a thrilling way to end the 2013-14 campaign for the DC women’s basketball team, as it came from behind to defeat the Franklin Grizzlies 62-60 on senior day in the Karl H. Weaner Center on Saturday, February 22.

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – Erica Smay drained a three with 27 seconds left in the game to help the DC women’s basketball team snap a skid of seven-straight losses to Manchester and keep its HCAC tournament hopes alive, as the Yellow Jackets stung the Spartans for a 47-45 win on Wednesday, February 19.

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham Quakers shot the lights out of the building and held down the DC women’s basketball team to its second-lowest point total of the season during an 83-49 loss away from home on Wednesday, February 12.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Freshman Kelsey Tietje went off for 30 points and 10 rebounds and DC never trailed, as the Purple and Gold women’s basketball team ran away with a 76-59 Heartland Conference victory over the Mount St. Joseph Lions on Saturday, February 8.

DEFIANCE, Ohio. – For the second time this season, the Hanover Panthers clawed out a victory over the Purple and Gold women’s basketball team. Defiance was able to overcome an 11-point second-half deficit to send the game into overtime, but Hanover took care of business in the extra period for an 88-77 road win.

Defiance Drubs Raves on the Road for 65-39 Victory
ANDERSON, Ind. – It was all about the defense on Wednesday, January 8, as the Lady Jacket basketball squad held the Anderson Ravens to 39 points in the mid-week Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest. Freshman Kelsey Tietje led DC with 16 points, 12 boards and three blocks, while senior Ashley Birchmeier came off the bench for 14 and eight.
