Bio

Megan Warren enters her fourth year as the Head Coach of the Yellow Jackets softball team in 2022-2023 after serving as Acting Head Coach for the 2019 season. Earlier this year, Warren was named the Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator. 

During her tenure as head coach, which includes a shortened 2020 season due to COVID-19, she has coached 16 All-HCAC players including the Freshman of the Year in 2019 and the Player of the Year in 2021, Kalin Hubble who now sits atop the DC record book for runs, doubles, homeruns, and runs batted in. Four players have been honored with All-Region accolades during her time, including three in the 2022 season.  

In the 2022 season, Warren guided the team to a third-place finish in the HCAC with a record of 21-13 overall, tying their best finish since the 2017 season, Warren’s senior season as a player for the Yellow Jackets. The team broke multiple single-game records in the 2022 season including most hits in a game (19), most runs in a game (20), most doubles in a game (7), most RBIs in a game (17), and most strikeouts in a game (13). The team also broke a single-season record for doubles (90) and strikeouts pitched (186), while landing second all-time in stolen bases (54) and home runs (23). The current homerun record (29) was set by Warren’s 2019 team. 

In addition to her coaching at DC, Warren also served a year as the Director of Coaching Development for the Defiance Fastpitch Softball League, a non-profit organization formed to offer youth softball instruction to the Defiance Community. Warren coached the 14u team for two seasons and continues to offer camps and private instruction for the local community. She also spent two summers coaching travel softball for the Ohio Outlaws organization. 

Warren returned to Defiance College from Purdue University where she served as an Athletic Trainer for the Recreational and Club Sports programs as well as the 2018 Small Co-Ed National Championship Cheer Team. While at Purdue, Warren also served as a volunteer softball coach for West Lafayette High School. 

Megan was a four-year softball player for the Yellow Jackets. Warren was named First Team All-HCAC and NFCA Third-Team All-Central Region for her senior season efforts. She also earned Second Team All-HCAC honors once and Academic All-HCAC honors twice during her career. Warren played 145 games in a Yellow Jacket uniform. Megan's 151 career hits place her fifth all-time at Defiance, while her 99 RBIs place her third on the career leaderboard. Warren's 38 career doubles land her second on the Defiance charts.

Warren, a native of Mason, OH, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2017 and a Master of Business Administration from Defiance College in 2020.
