Softball Rallies to Advance to Day Two of the HCAC Tournament
CINCINNATI, OHIO - Senior Michaela Bauer (Hicksville) went 3-for-5 on the day with two RBI and a home run to lead the Yellow Jackets to an elimination game victory over Franklin in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, 4-1. The Purple and Gold dropped the Tournament opener 5-1 to Anderson.

The Purple and Gold dropped the Tournament opener 5-1 to Anderson.
Facing elimination, the Purple and Gold stepped up big as sophomore Taylor Biggs (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) scored the game tying run in the top of the second inning as she took a 3-0 pitch to right field that scored sophomore Hali Geraci (Springboro) 1-1.
The domination at the plate continued as senior Jordan Osborne (Delaware//Rutherford B. Hayes) drew a lead off walk in the top of the third inning before junior Brooke Gostomsky (Dayton/Covington) placed a sacrifice bunt that advanced Osborne to scoring position. Bauer registered her first RBI of the contest as she too connected for a sacrifice bunt that scored Osborne extending the DC advantage to 2-1.
Senior Jackie Hartman (Parma/Padua Franciscan) closed out the inning for the Purple and Gold as she singled to the short stop scoring Gostomsky, 3-1.
The final run would come in the top of the fifth inning as Bauer went yard to left field securing the 4-1 victory.
Biggs claimed her 10th win of the season as she pitched the complete one run game.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on day two of the Tournament in a rematch with five seed Anderson. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
