Softball Falls in Tough HCAC Battle
CINCINNATI, OHIO - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets fell in a tough Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up to leader Mount St. Joseph on Monday evening. The Purple and Gold dropped the opener 3-2 and lost the night cap 4-1.

CINCINNATI, OHIO - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets fell in a tough Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up to leader Mount St. Joseph on Monday evening. The Purple and Gold dropped the opener 3-2 and lost the night cap 4-1.
In the opener, MSJ struck first in the bottom of the second inning before the Yellow Jackets responded in the top of the fifth inning. Sophomore Hali Geraci sparked the offense with a double to left field before senior Jordan Osborne delt clutch with the game tying hit.
Defiance would take the lead in the top of the seventh inning as Geraci reached first on a Lions error before Osborne again deemed clutch with a single up the middle that gave DC the convincing 2-1 lead.
However, MSJ remained poise at the plate scoring the game winning run for the hard fought 3-2 victory.
In the night cap, the Purple and Gold struck first in the top of the second inning as Geraci provided a single through the left side that scored senior Jackie Hartman for the early 1-0 advantage.
But again Mount St. Joseph responding scoring one run in the fourth and three in the fifth inning to capture the 4-1 game two sweep.
Defiance returns to action on Wednesday, April 24 as they host Hanover at Sal Hench Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
