Track & Field competes at All-Ohio Championships
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's and women's track and field programs returned to action Saturday afternoon with a trip to Otterbein University. With the All-Ohio Championships taking place, only the top qualifiers in the state featured for the Purple and Gold.

"One of the things I love about this group is that they step up when they're needed. The definitely did that today," said Head Coach Nathan Christianson.
Madi Bowman (Eaton/Eaton) took home the highest finish for DC with a second-place result in the women's weight throw. A challenging ring for the Eaton native saw her conclude the day with a mark of 15.54 meters.
The Defiance women's 4x200 meter relay team also qualified for All-Ohio as the team of Malia Ferry (Milford/Milford), Lisa Maria Markau, Blake Newman (Jackson, Mich./Lumen Christi), and Brianna Snider (Lima/Shawnee) finished with a time of 2:10.51.
In the women's distance medley, Abbegail Rank (Maumee/Maumee) slotted in for Snider as they quartet finished with a 16:43.94 time.
On the men's side of the competition, Ja'qway Janvier (Miami Gardens, Fla./Mater Academy Charter) was the lone representative of Defiance College. The freshman recorded a time of 7.42 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
"We're going to have a good week of training and be ready for next week," said Christianson. "I'm really proud of this group, and I think we can do something really special."
Defiance will return to action next Saturday as the teams take on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. Action in Terre Haute, Indiana, is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
