Track & Field competes at Ohio Northern
ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s and women’s track teams returned to action Friday evening with a short trip to Ohio Northern for the Larry Cole Friday Night Invite.

Madi Bowman (Eaton/Eaton), coming off a school-record worthy weight throw last Saturday, once again led the Yellow Jackets. Bowman brought home first place in the weight throw with a 16.06-meter toss. The senior also competed in the shot put in which she claimed eighth in the talented field with a 10.75-meter mark.
On the men's side of the throwing action, Kaleb Tyree (Tiffin/Columbian) was the lone competitor for DC. The senior tallied an 11.15-meter performance in the weight throw and a 12.02 mark in the shot put.
In the first relay of the season for the Purple and Gold, the team of Malia Ferry (Milford/Milford), Lisa Maria Markau, Destiny Oshodin (Toledo/Jesup W. Scott), and Blake Newman (Jackson, Mich./Lumen Christi) recorded a 2:08.47 in the 4x200 event.
Ferry also competed in the 200-meter dash, in which she tallied a 31.06 time.
Newman featured in the 1000-meter run, bringing home a 4:00.44 finish.
Markau recorded an 8.78 second 60-meter dash prelim time, followed by a 3.90 meter long jump time.
With an appearance in the finals of the men's 60-meter dash, Ja'Qway Janvier (Miami Gardens, Fla./Mater Academy Carter) brought home a fifth-place finish with a time of 7.18 seconds.
Tyler Hines (Cincinnati/Northwest) took on the mile run and finished with a 5:34.53 time.
The Yellow Jacket track and field programs will return to action Friday, February 7, as they travel to the Cedarville Indoor Invite.
