Yellow Jackets Post Strong Performance at Oberlin
OBERLIN, OHIO - Senior Javier Castillo claimed a first place finish in the shot put to lead the Yellow Jackets men's track and field team at the Oberlin College Dan Kinsey Invitational.
OBERLIN, OHIO - Senior Javier Castillo claimed a first place finish in the shot put to lead the Yellow Jackets men's track and field team at the Oberlin College Dan Kinsey Invitational.
Castillo claimed the top spot with a toss of 13.92 meters, while also taking second in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 16.93 meters.
Also in the weight throw, senior Andrew Fahler finished fourth with a season-best toss of 14.03 meters and junior James Baranoski took sixth with a distance of 13.53 meters.
In the high jump, sophomore Vince Jackson finished second following a jump off with a height of 1.80 meters.
Sophomore Cody-Drumm Turner posted an impressive day finishing third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.26, while sophomore Gabe Caris crossed the line in fourth followed by sophomore Maurice Brewer in sixth.
Caris also registered a first place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.33, while Drumm-Turner claimed a fourth place finish in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.45.
The men's 4x200-meter relay team compiled of Drumm-Turner, Brewer, freshman Terence Williams, and Caris finished second with a time of 1:38.64.
Defiance returns to action on Friday, February 8 as they host the Dick Small Invite at the George M. Smart Athletic Center.
