The 2020-21 season will be the eighth for John Trautman as a volunteer assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets' men’s and women’s tennis teams.

Trautman is a 1972 graduate of Defiance College who earned his master’s at Miami University of Ohio in 1974. He worked at Defiance for 20 years in many capacities ranging from the alumni director to associate vice president for development and alumni relations. Trautman spent the next 10 years as the executive director of the Isaac Knapp Dental Society before his retirement.

An avid tennis enthusiast, Trautman has served as the chair umpire for numerous professional tennis exhibitions. He also coaches his wife, Julie, who participates in United States Tennis Association league play, as well as other competitive tennis tournaments.

Trautman and his wife reside in Bryan, Ohio.
