Men's Tennis Hosts Fall Invitational
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's tennis team played host to Heidelberg University and Olivet College on Saturday for a fall season invitational. The Yellow Jackets had a positive performance to begin the year, finishing second in the close contest.
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's tennis team played host to Heidelberg University and Olivet College on Saturday for a fall season invitational. The Yellow Jackets had a positive performance to begin the year, finishing second in the close contest.
Defiance's performance was highlighted by freshman Ethan Harris (Huntertown, Ind. / Carroll). Harris won all three of his singles contests on the day, one of which came in a hard fought comeback. Down 0-5 in a third set, Harris battled back to win a super tie-break 10-8 over his Olivet opponent.
On the doubles side of action, the Purple and Gold finished 2-2 on the day. The pairing of Ring Lardner (Milford, Del. / Milford) and Micaiah Cox (Ft. Recovery / Ft. Recovery) won the two doubles contests for the Yellow Jackets with 6-3 and 6-1 scores over their Heidelberg opponents.
After the contest Head Coach Gonzalo Vivas stated "Overall we had a great performance. Freshman Ethan Harris had a stellar day. Our team is starting to come together and will continue to just get better."
