Yellow Jackets Rolled 9-0 by Crusaders
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's tennis team was defeated 9-0 this afternoon in this home contest with Capital University at the George M. Smart Center.
The Purple and Gold opened with three straight losses in doubles play. At first doubles, Adam Swisher and Jared Schnee dropped their match 8-4 while Nathan Principe and Eline Widman were routed 8-3 at second doubles. Micaiah Cox and Henry Brown fell 8-0 at No. 4 doubles.
In the singles flight, DC continued to struggle. Swisher dropped first singles 7-6 (7-2 tiebreak), 7-5 as Schnee was rolled 6-0, 6-0 at second singles. Third singles went to the Crusaders as Widman was defeated 6-3, 6-3 while Principe lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Ring Lardner and Brown both dropped their matches 6-0, 6-0 at fifth and sixth singles respectively.
The Yellow Jackets look to rebound from this sweep with a home contest on Saturday, March 17 against Rose-Hulman to open up Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action. First serve is set for 2:00 PM.
