Defiance Routed in Season Opener to Baldwin Wallace
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's tennis team suffered a loss this evening in their season opener to Baldwin Wallace at the George M. Smart Center in Defiance, Ohio.
In singles action, Adam Swisher was defeated 6-4, 6-2 by Baldwin Wallace while Eline Widman dropped second singles 6-0, 6-0. At third singles, Nathan Principe fell 6-1 before retiring for the evening and Henry Brown lost 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth spot. Fifth and sixth singles also went to Baldwin Wallace as Ring Lardner and Micaiah Cox dropped the pair of matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively.
It was a clean sweep for the visitors in doubles play as well. Swisher and Widman fell 8-3 at first doubles while Principe and Brown were rolled 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. The final set was an 8-1 victory for BW over Lardner and Cox.
The Yellow Jackets return to the courts on Wednesday, February 21 as they host Heidelberg University at the George Center. First serve is set for 5:30 PM.
