TIFFIN, Ohio- The Defiance College men's soccer team pick up another win on the road, as they traveled to Heidelberg University on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets won the close battle with the Student Princes by a score of 1-0.
The two sides began the match with alternating spells of possession, each creating opportunities to score. Neither team was able to breakthrough in the first period despite the combined 18 shots. Freshman, Orry Killam (Napoleon, Ohio / Liberty Center) got the start in the net for the Purple and Gold recording ten saves on the day.
The Yellow Jacket offense found their stride in the second period when Armando Campos-Ortiz (Dayton, Ohio / Carroll ) scored the first and only goal of the match. The freshman scored his fourth career goal for the Purple and Gold.
The 1-0 victory takes the Yellow Jacket record to 4-5-1. The men's side will next be in action Tuesday, October 1st at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field on the Defiance College Campus as they take on Great Lakes Christian. The match, slated for a 3:30 pm kickoff, will serve as a final tuneup before Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play begins on October 5th as the Purple and Gold host to Franklin.
