ANGOLA, INDIANA- The Defiance College men's soccer team traveled to Weaver Field to take on Trine University Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets came out victorious with a hard-fought 2-0 win over the Thunder.
It was deadlocked for most of the first half, leaving both sides scoreless until freshman Armando Campos-Ortiz (Dayton, Ohio / Carroll) found the back of the net giving Defiance a 1-0 lead. Campos-Ortiz scored his first goal of his Yellow Jacket Career in the thirty-seventh minute of play.
The Yellow Jackets lead the second half at 1-0 until the eighty-eighth minute, when senior Adam Ordel (Lima, Ohio / Elida) connected with junior Christian Rennie (Conroe, Tex. / Porter) for a goal to seal the 2-0 victory.
Freshman, Orry Killiam (Napoleon, Ohio / Liberty Center) got his first start in the net for the Purple and Gold recording three saves on four shots on the goal.
The Yellow Jackets will be in action again on Saturday, September 7 as host to Kalamazoo College at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field for a 3:30 pm kickoff.
