DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's soccer team surrendered two second half goals as they fell to non-conference opponent Mount Union on Sunday afternoon at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field. The Yellow Jackets fell in the contest 3-0.
Trailing 3-0 late in the second half, senior Christian Meister (Ontario) looked to get something going for the Purple and Gold as he delivered a perfect header inside the box that hit the right post just narrowly missing the goal.
The Purple Raiders delivered the games first blow in the 22nd minute on a shot from outside the 18-yard box that beat senior, keeper, Clay Musgrave (Upper Sandusky).
The Defiance defense was able to stifle the pressing attack of Mount Union for much of the first half entering the break trailing 1-0.
However, Mount Union continued to attack the box for much of the second half as they delivered blows in the 61st and 63rd minute.
The Yellow Jackets were led on the day by senior Adam Ordel (Lima/Elida) with two shots, while Musgrave recorded four saves on seven shots.
Defiance (1-5 overall) return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 19 as they travel to New Concord, Ohio to face the Fighting Muskies.
