DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's soccer team got a decisive win this afternoon, defeating Anderson University 6-0 at the Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field in Defiance, Ohio.
Defiance's (7-8-2, 3-5 HCAC) first goal came as the Yellow Jackets' Maxwell Alvarado took advantage of a failed goalie clear, seizing the ball in the box to dribble around the keeper and give DC the 1-0 lead in the 27th minute. Seven minutes later the Yellow Jackets struck again. Alvarado found Milus Sutton who netted his four goal on the season, ending the first half 2-0.
DC continued their run into the second period with a Christian Meister goal in the 59th minute. Alex Moore logged the assist. At the 69:47 minute-mark, Clay Musgrave cleared the ball deep into Raven territory, perfectly setting up Jarren Casto to chip in a fourth goal. Casto finished with a second goal in the 75th minute before Bennett Pack notched a goal of his own to finalize the game 6-0.
Defiance outshot the Ravens 29-21 and attempted five corner kicks compared to AU's three. Meister and Moore paced Defiance with three shots on goal each while Casto and Alvarado recorded two apiece. Clay Musgrave tallied eight saves on eight shots on goal while in net for DC.
The Yellow Jackets return to the pitch on Saturday, October 28 for Senior Day as they host Mount St. Joseph at 3:30 PM.
