Men's Golf Claims Third Place Finish at the Beaver Fall Classic
BLUFFTON, OHIO - The Defiance College men's golf team claimed a third place finish in the nine team field at the Beaver Fall Classic hosted by Bluffton University this past weekend.
BLUFFTON, OHIO - The Defiance College men's golf team claimed a third place finish in the nine team field at the Beaver Fall Classic hosted by Bluffton University this past weekend.
The Purple and Gold shot a two day total of 607 (303-304) strokes, finishing behind Capital University in second with 606 (301-305) strokes and Heidelberg in first with 603 (304-299) strokes.
The 36-hole, 607 stroke total is the second best score in Defiance College history breaking the previous total of 608 strokes set in 2015-16.
Defiance was led on the day by freshman Federico Gutierrez who finished tied for third in the 52 golfer field with 146 (74-72) strokes. This ranks him third all-time in DC men's golf history for a 36-hole score.
Sophomore Stephan Dolan would finish tied for 13th as he shot a 154 (75-79), followed by sophomore Hayden Clingaman with 155 (77-78) strokes.
Freshman Werner Heinze rounded out the scoring for the Purple and Gold as he finished tied for 33rd with 165 (88-77) strokes.
Freshman Oliver Thomas registered an impressive day as he finished 10th overall with 152 (76-76) strokes, competing as an individual for the Yellow Jackets.
DC returns to action Wednesday, October 3 as they compete at the Gray Wolfe Invitational.
