Men’s basketball upended in conference home game

With the loss, Defiance slips to 10-8 overall, including 5-6 in the HCAC while Anderson is 9-9 and 6-5, respectively.
After the Ravens scored the game's first seven points, the Yellow Jackets took their first lead of the evening, 19-18. AU went back on top by 10 points, 38-28, before settling for a 39-36 halftime lead. In the second half, the guests matched their biggest advantage of the contest, 65-55, but DC answered with a 7-0 run to make it 65-62. Defiance also trailed by just three points, 88-85, in the final minute but could get no closer.
The Yellow Jackets ended 33 of 62 (53.2 percent) from the field and 12 of 23 (52.2) from three-point territory. Anderson also shot well from the floor, making 49.2 percent (32 of 65), including 52.6 (10 of 19) from three-point range. The Ravens outscored DC at the free throw line, 17-7, and had a 35-30 edge in rebounds.
Marell Jordan (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) collected 23 points and eight boards for Defiance while Sean Tyson (Columbus, Ohio/Centennial) registered 15 points and five assists. Tyler Andrew (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) also scored 15 points while freshman Jack Kolar (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) finished with 14 off the bench.
The Yellow Jackets host an HCAC game against Transylvania University this Saturday at 3 p.m. The contest follows the 1 p.m. women's matchup between DC and Transylvania.
